At Atelier Gemini, we start each day by checking our tools. There's no way we'd touch the leather if a blade isn't perfectly sharp!
Our sewing machine works wonders. Its stitches are so even that the effect on each necklace is striking, and we're often asked if we use an industrial machine! We religiously sharpen our knives every week. This routine might seem obsessive, but it guarantees incredibly precise cuts.
The other day, we completely remade a dog collar because one of the blades wasn't sharp enough. Two hours of work to redo! But it's precisely this level of attention to detail that makes the difference between handcrafted and mass-produced goods.
Our Leather Selection – Ultimate Seriousness
We remember once refusing a full delivery of 50 hides; it's tough, with the financial risks for a young brand. The carrier was stunned! But here at Atelier Gemini, we never accept uneven grain; it has to be square, with no gaps whatsoever.
We work exclusively with family-run tanneries that still practice traditional vegetable tanning. Yes, it costs us a fortune, six times more than basic tanning. But our clients sometimes send us photos of dog collars that are years old... They're even more beautiful than when they were new! That natural patina that develops is something you can't imitate.
Our Unique Personalization Technique - Hot Foil Stamping
For our medals, we laser engrave names and phone numbers according to your wishes. On leather, it's different: we use hot stamping with gold lettering.
Our technique? We first create two special metal dies for your text. The first is used to apply the gilding to the leather, the second presses harder so that the gold adheres well to the material.
Everything is done by hand, without any glue. It's environmentally friendly and long-lasting.
